Orthoselect

The Innovative 3D Modeling and 3D Printing Software for Dentistry and Orthodontics

The Challenge

Every patient’s mouth is unique. Because of this it makes it impossible for dentists and orthodontists to use a standard mold across the board.

Without a 3D view of their patients’ teeth it can be extremely challenging for dentists and orthodontists to create custom solutions.

Unfortunately, creating a 3D model for every patient is not only expensive but also quite time-consuming.

The Vision

The founder of Orthoselect was on a mission to facilitate orthodontists with treatment planning and bracket placement. To do so, the client wanted to create a desktop application that would enable accurate 3D models of the patients’ teeth to be made. They hoped for software that would copy and replicate the teeth of each patient in a way that would make it easier for orthodontists to treat patients more effectively.

The Scopic Solution

Scopic’s C++ developers coded this 3D modeling vision to life using OpenGL and VTK technologies, among others.

The software and models are used in treatment planning and in specialized cases, such as OrthoSelect’s digital indirect bonding service (DIBS) for both fixed braces and removable aligners. The easy-to-use interface empowers healthcare practitioners to use this application hassle-free.

A novel approach to medical imaging

High-resolution 3D models of vasculature.

Endovantage main

The Medical Imaging Challenge

Medical imaging is critically important in the diagnosis and treatment planning of vascular diseases. Though there have been many technological advancements in the field of medical imaging in recent years, there are still certain challenges and drawbacks. Some of the most obvious ones include inconveniently long scan times and expensive and nonportable scanning equipment.

The Vision Behind the App

The idea behind Endovantage was to build a powerful web application that creates detailed 3D visualizations of patients’ vasculature. The easy-to-use tool aims to assist medical practitioners involved in diagnostic imaging and help them come up with best treatment scenarios for patients.

Endovantage vision

The Scopic Solution

Built for use by medical professionals, Endovantage is a high-powered, cloud-based medical modeling tool that radically improves endovascular device design and development. It analyzes patients’ CT scans to generate custom 3D models of vasculature, providing crucial anatomical measurements and visualizations far more quickly and accurately than physical testing. In order to enhance patient relations, Endovantage also simulates multiple treatment scenarios based on available devices and/or deployment strategies.

Using the ThreeJS library and HTML5, the Scopic team designed this complex frontend 3D viewer to communicate securely with a pre-existing backend 3D mesh generator, and developed a special format to store sensitive medical information within the app.

Get licensed in using refrigeration equipment

Learn faster through a simulation program

Main browser training app

The Challenge Summarized

In certain U.S. states commercial, industrial, or residential facilities that use large refrigeration equipment require a licensed watch engineer to be on duty during all hours of operation.

Becoming a licensed engineer demands that you pass a two-part test and complete a 200-hour course which instructs you in the operation of large-scale refrigeration equipment. To meet these substantial requirements, it is important to find a reliable course provider that enables students to qualify for and pass the exams.

The Vision

Turner School is a leader in continuing education for Commercial and Industrial Building Operations and Management. The school has helped thousands of students to successfully complete courses in industrial and commercial refrigeration. The school wanted to create a Simulation Program to supplement their courses and help students to put the information they’ve learned to practice. That’s when Turner School contacted Scopic to bring this vision into reality.

The Scopic Solution

Scopic developers rewrote the Simulation Program from Flash to Angular, creating a powerful software for students who want to become licensed watch engineers for large-scale refrigeration equipment.

The Practical Simulation Program is a helpful addition to lectures, notes, videos, and review tests that students receive in the theoretical part of the course. The Simulation Program can be accessed through Turner School’s website. It allows students to get acclimated to the program, while putting the information learned in the written portion of the class to practical use.

Digital impressions for effective treatment plans

Easily display and analyze 3D teeth impressions.

The Dental Impressions Challenge

Digital impressions are the recent technology used for capturing a replica of a patient’s mouth. With such dental 3d software, dentists can generate a virtual model of the mouth’s hard and soft tissues. These replicas usually have higher accuracy than molds and can be sent to labs where dentures, bridges, and retainers can be created accurately and quickly. Digital impressions also provide a more comfortable patient experience compared to using traditional mold material.

The Vision Behind the App

ByteMe is an exclusive teledentistry platform that unites a nationwide network of licensed dentists and orthodontics. ByteMe was looking for a reliable software development partner to build a new 3D application for their platform. They envisioned an app that would store and display 3D teeth impressions and help doctors oversee dental treatments in patients looking to straighten their teeth. They turned to Scopic to turn their vision into reality.

The Scopic Solution

Scopic helped build the 3D Treatment Viewer, part of ByteMe’s teledentistry platform. The app displays 3D files that allow dentists and orthodontists to thoroughly analyze each patient’s teeth impressions and store the information related to patient history. Based on this data, doctors can create safe and effective treatment plans that help fix patients’ mild to moderate teeth spacing and crowding issues.

3D Treatment Viewer is packed with handy features, including:

3D scanning and software to make orthodontic treatment faster and more precise

Ease of use with practical manipulation tools and animations

Appealing UX design

3D Jewelry App

A Hassle-Free Approach to Designing Jewelry

Create realistic jewelry designs.

The Jewelry Conceptualization Challenge

Crafting jewelry is a complex process that requires detailed conceptualization and design. Every measurement should be precise, and every detail taken into account. When done manually, the design work for custom jewelry can become quite time-consuming and create bottlenecks in the manufacturing process. So, using powerful software is critical for optimizing the design phase.

The Vision Behind the App

The company envisioned a practical approach for designers, young learners, established jewelry professionals, beginners, and early career professionals to quickly design their jewelry ideas. They wanted to create a tool that allows the user to efficiently and accurately build their models in 3D. If the user has a design concept in mind, the tool should facilitate bringing it into life, while saving time.

The Scopic Solution

Scopic created the 3D Jewelry App, a user-friendly design software. The application helps to easily build and adjust jewelry models. This powerful tool boasts a variety of benefits and features, including:
Configuration Adjustments: The 3D Jewelry App offers different tool elements to help in creating a realistic end-result through camera, background, light, shadows, and auto-rotation.
Ease of Use: Even though the application is quite feature-packed, the developers have had a deep focus in making the interface simple, friendly, and self-explanatory for all types of users.
Flexibility and Customization: The application allows you to simply type in any number of dimensions and customize the design according to the requirements of a given job. It also offers 3 common material layers options to properly build the model in detail: gems, metal, and texture. For example, the user can choose gems such as diamonds, jonquille, peridot, ruby, sapphire, and topaz.
