TAP, by SDS Industries, is a commercially available consumer kiln controller that enables the glass or ceramic artist to immediately start programming and operating their kiln. This controller is designed to take all the guesswork out of firing schedule creation, modification, execution, and monitoring. However, the company aimed to incorporate a GUI to this advanced service, and specifically they wanted to leverage it with a mobile app.

They reached out to Scopic and communicated their ideas with our best experts in the field.

The Scopic Solution

The controller was developed by SDS Industries themselves, and they provided us the Backend logic, so that we could reuse it. Scopic’s frontend experts designed and concepted the entire Mobile user interface for a cross-platform app implementation. Also we worked on a whole set of backend improvements to adjust to the IoT environment. The service includes these features:

Recognizing the unique challenges and ambitious goals of Session Guardian, Scopic, was enlisted to realize this vision. Scopic’s contribution was pivotal in transforming the concept into a functional and secure mobile application. Their expertise was instrumental in developing a secure and intuitive iOS application that:

  • Whitelisted Page Viewing: Ensures users access only authorized content.
  • Continuous Security Checks: Uses the camera to confirm the identity of the viewer, detect unauthorized recording attempts, prevent screenshots and screen sharing, and ensure the presence of the authorized user alone.
  • Geolocation Verification: Confirms the user’s location aligns with permitted access areas.
  • Session Protection: Automatically blocks access to content if the user is not actively viewing the screen or if policy violations are detected.

The industry of buying and selling pets has not always been transparent. In the past it was a great challenge to consistently have access to all the relevant information about each pet in one place.

Many pet store owners struggled to find a comprehensive database of weights, ages, vaccinations, sire and dam information, breeder reviews and pictures for each pet they were interested in.

The Vision

In the spirit of uniting owners to their dream pets, the founders of PBT wanted to create an eye-catching website with a user interface that all types of visitors would be able to cope with. They wanted to build a marketplace that would be both easy to access and reflect transparency for buyers and sellers alike.

The Scopic Solution

The Scopic web development team listened to PBT Marketplace’s vision and began building a web application to facilitate communication between pet store owners and pet breeders. Using CSS, Net MVC, JQuery and Javascript, our team developed a transparent marketplace where users can now get information for every single pet available.

We were especially mindful of the eye-catching, easy-to-use interface which enables all visitors to interact with the platform and ultimately unite pets with their rightful owners.

Idle time can occur when managers fail to distribute work properly, leaving staffers with nothing to do once they’ve finished their tasks. There are also cases when companies hire more people than needed for anticipated periods of increased activity. Sometimes that crunch never comes, leaving employees idle. This unintentional downtime can be just as stressful as overwork. After all, a busy day at your job seems to go by quickly as you switch from task to task. A day full of idleness, on the other hand, can stretch on like an eternity and eventually decrease your satisfaction with the job.

The Vision

Scopic’s vision was to help the Resources team with ensuring proper company resources utilization. We believed this could be achieved through an efficient, reliable, and cost-effective workflow. Daily reports and mail reminders that track employee assignments and idleness statuses were essential for turning this vision into reality.

Scopic Idleness Automation Tool vision

The Scopic Solution

We worked on the Scopic Idleness Automation Tool, an internal application built with PowerApps. The tool is used by the Resources team to increase and optimize employee efficiency through proper work distribution.

The tool allows the Idleness Coordinator to prepare two types of reports for the company’s Management:

  • The daily Idleness Report which lists all company employees subject to present under-utilization
  • The daily Escalation Report notifies the Managers about the under-utilized personnel

The tool has helped reduce the time required to manually create and maintain the report by 50%. It has also kept the Resources team and Management updated on the high priority, employee utilization-related issues via a set of customized email reminders via Microsoft Flow.
Employees receive email notifications in the following events:

  • An assignment is made
  • A new hire has been assigned
  • Weekly summary for all assignments made
  • Daily summary for the highest priority idle employees.

The software’s unique design represented a video and advertisement application that was programmed to detect and find advertising billboards in sporting events automatically.
