The Challenge Summarized

Adobe announced that, as of 31 December 2020, it will no longer be supporting Flash. Major browser vendors, such as Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, and Apple, will also stop supporting Flash Player as a plug-in, and Flash-based content will no longer be working.

This poses a challenge for companies reliant on Flash, as they need to plan for how to remove their reliance on Flash, update their code, and adapt it to the new web environment.

The Vision Behind the App

RxWeb is a comprehensive solution for managing pharmacies. It was initially written in ActionScript (Flash, Flex) and Cold Fusion. Like with most solutions in Flash, the company was looking to rewrite it in another programming language.

They reached out to Scopic for a clean update of their code.

The Scopic Solution

Scopic redeveloped RxWeb, an all-in-one pharmacy software solution. RxWeb is a web-based platform that allows you to manage all areas of pharmacy including:

Clinical services

Stock ordering

Care home patient management

Patient communications

Stock management

And more!

Based on Scopic’s recommendations, Angular and TypeScript were chosen for Front End Development. Jhipster, Spring Boot, and Java were selected for the Back End. Our team also used Bloc pattern, WebSocket with Stomp, and RabbitMQ for the Back End. WebSocket was used to replace the previous Ignite Realtime solution.

The recommended technologies significantly improved the potential of scalability and authentication support of the app.

The Animal Combination Challenge

Have you ever wondered what a half giraffe, half zebra would look like? Or maybe even a goat, dog combination?

It’s one thing to think about it and visualize it in our minds, it’s a whole other thing to actually, physically see what these types of animal combinations could really look like.

The Vision Behind the App

The visionaries behind Switch Zoo wanted to bring these imaginative creatures to life (virtually). They pictured an app where children could use their imagination to create their own varieties of animals by combining different species. They also wanted the app to not only be fun, but educational, where kids could learn about animals, build habitats, and more.

With this fun educational app idea, they sought out Scopic for our software development services.

The Scopic Solution

Our team took this exciting app framework to create the Switch Zoo app. We developed the app to be a cross-platform mobile application for iOS and Android users as a fun and creative activity for kids.

The app is completely entertaining with multiple educational components. While children can combine their favorite animals to see what they would look like, they are also learning about habitats, reading facts about animals, solving puzzles, taking virtual field trips, and building homes for their new species.

Scopic developed Streaming Video Collaboration and Markup, an application based on Actionscript and made using MySQL and PHP. It ensures timely and amazing quality video collaboration along with the required markup. It was built to ensure that the videos are private and customized as per the client’s needs.

The company aimed to help out professionals in the jewelry industry. Their vision consisted of providing designers with robust customization features that would make gem displaying a breeze. They believed this improved workflow would also satisfy customers that sought uniquely designed stones.

The company contacted Scopic and initiated its journey.

The Scopic Solution

Scopic built Sapphire Viewer, a tool used for displaying gems and stones. It is also used in the Natural Sapphire Company where you can design your own jewelry. The tool lets you choose the size, cuts, and other features of the gem at hand and create exactly what you want. The application can produce a variety of 3D renderings, which enables realistic results.
