The Challenge Summarized

Adobe announced that, as of 31 December 2020, it will no longer be supporting Flash. Major browser vendors, such as Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, and Apple, will also stop supporting Flash Player as a plug-in, and Flash-based content will no longer be working.

This poses a challenge for companies reliant on Flash, as they need to plan for how to remove their reliance on Flash, update their code, and adapt it to the new web environment.

The Vision Behind the App

RxWeb is a comprehensive solution for managing pharmacies. It was initially written in ActionScript (Flash, Flex) and Cold Fusion. Like with most solutions in Flash, the company was looking to rewrite it in another programming language.

They reached out to Scopic for a clean update of their code.

The Scopic Solution

Scopic redeveloped RxWeb, an all-in-one pharmacy software solution. RxWeb is a web-based platform that allows you to manage all areas of pharmacy including:

Clinical services

Stock ordering

Care home patient management

Patient communications

Stock management

And more!

Based on Scopic’s recommendations, Angular and TypeScript were chosen for Front End Development. Jhipster, Spring Boot, and Java were selected for the Back End. Our team also used Bloc pattern, WebSocket with Stomp, and RabbitMQ for the Back End. WebSocket was used to replace the previous Ignite Realtime solution.

The recommended technologies significantly improved the potential of scalability and authentication support of the app.

The Vision Behind the App

Fit Together came to life on a mission to allow groups of friends to sync workout DVDs and exercise together in real time anywhere in the world. The founder wanted to create the first social fitness application that would give users the opportunity to interact via onscreen chat and text while simultaneously viewing the same workout DVD. So he partnered with Scopic, a fitness software development and desktop application development company, to bring his idea to life and give people the motivation they needed to commit to a workout routine.

Scopic fulfilled this vision through the development of the Deck Designer platform. The app with a user-friendly interface aims to facilitate the whole planning process of choosing the right deck. Customization of a deck can be accomplished through a multitude of wood, colors, finishes, and railing combinations as well as light fixtures to choose from. What happens when a car enthusiast decides to make alterations to their car and customize it more to suit their tastes? They picture it in their mind and make the leap of taking the car to the dealer. After a couple of days they go to check out their changed vehicle with the fear of not seeing what they had imagined.

Wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to see what your car would look like before you committed to customizing it in real life?

And that’s how ChopShop Car Styler, a web application, came to life. The founder was on a mission to create an app that could be used to design and customize cars virtually. Users would have the opportunity of choosing different car models and making different modifications to them, such as on the body, wheels, and seats. This would let users visualize what their cars would look like in real life before making any physical changes. So he partnered with Scopic to create this innovative web application that would let his users visualize their customized cars before committing to any major changes.

ChopShop Car Styler joined forces with Scopic to build a web application where users can design and customize their cars virtually. The Challenge

MRI and CT scan machines are expensive and powerful. All individuals who are studying to become MRI and CT technicians or nurses must be trained thoroughly before conducting any scans on real patients. This training is quite costly and MRI and CT scans are in high-demand at most health care facilities. As a result, trainee healthcare practitioners do not always have consistent access to the machinery when undergoing vital preparatory training.

The Vision

With this in mind, the client wanted to build a customized application that would simulate the functionalities of a real MRI and CT scan machine. They believed that by creating a realistic approximation of an MRI and CT scanner, they would be able to effectively train medical practitioners without the need to use the real machine. Seeking to bring their vision into the reality, the team started looking for custom healthcare software development services providers.

The Scopic Solution

Our talented developers listened to the clients’ unique ideas and went on to create this demo version of an MRI and CT scanner from the ground up. The product we built allowed for the acclimation and training of participants in a controlled environment, thus increasing the safety and accessibility of MRI and CT training programs.

SCORM allows for publishing of two different output types: Flash and HTML. The challenge with Flash is that, although widely used, it is not supported on certain devices, while HTML is more versatile.

The company behind the app envisioned a tool that allowed users to seamlessly convert the existing SCORM App from Flash AS2 to HTML5.

The Scopic Solution

SCORM App Conversion is an example of a web application tool that is used for quick conversions. It has several features, including multiple-choice questions, displaying image thumbnail for each question, displaying the main video loaded from different sources (local, YouTube, and Vimeo), and registering and logging trainee’s performance to SCORM server. The app also allows for printing of test results, sending the results by email, and can be run both online and offline.

In addition, AutoRay allows for the high volume production of CDs or DVDs with printed demographics and hospital logos for patients and professionals alike.

When building this game-changer of an application, Scopic ensured the software interface was designed to be very user-friendly and intuitive, so that medical staff would require very little training to successfully operate the system.
