The Nutrition Challenge

Maintaining a healthy balanced diet can be tricky, especially when trying to follow a specific diet or aiming to reach your nutrition goals. And if you have any household allergies to throw into the mix, preparing the right food to achieve your objectives is even more challenging.

The Idea Behind the App

The founder and owner of Recipe IQ had a vision: to give home cooks more control over their family’s health by easily extracting the nutritional information from the image of ANY recipe. He wanted to empower anyone and everyone to eat healthier meals, by taking the mystery out of a recipe’s ingredients.

The Scopic Solution

RecipeIQ was built by the Scopic development team as a mobile app that is compatible with both iOS and Android. The application allows for the extraction of all the nutrition facts from print and online recipes. Additionally, users can not only scan/take photos of recipes but also add their own recipes. It pulls ingredients to calculate their combined nutritional values, using an advanced database search algorithm.

Scopic’s team also introduced an additional database to allow users to add custom ingredients and improve the accuracy of nutritional calculations. This innovative recipe analyzer app helps home cooks maintain a balanced diet, and empowers dieters to cook with confidence.

The Know Your Customer challenges encountered by treasurers in banks or by corporate clients have ramped up considerably. The manual activity of handling each and every KYC request over and over again on a paper based system adds no value to the process.

The Vision Behind the App

Commercial Passport, a company based in Canada, aimed at bringing a solution to the KYC problem. The company envisioned concrete advantages that would enhance the process of generating passports. They hoped to impact:

The Scopic Solution

Scopic professionally developed a trusted repository for digital KYC in cooperation with Commercial Passport. The team carefully crafted the software architecture, and outlined a concept that would revolutionize the way personal documentation was shared, certified, and stored in financial institutions around the globe.

The platform provided fully digital and analytical solutions to streamline business processes. The Universal KYC Solution reviewed, fully documented and analyzed KYC data for legal entities and complex structures in an inherently efficient reusable digital master record format.

Scopic focused on ensuring the KYC was as user-friendly and effortless as possible, through a fw steps that included:

1. Easy specification of beneficial ownership and control for the legal structure, choosing from clearly defined legal entities – ensured by a sophisticated rules engine

2. Smooth and easy process of document verification

3. Electronic exchange of passwords, making the KYC experience both efficient, paperless, and healthier for the planet!

One of the most innovative aspects of this custom financial software developed by Scopic, was the use of blockchain technology to maintain secure and verifiable records of document transaction histories. This – in addition to 2-factor authentication, data encryption, and document lifecycle history – would ensure that Commercial Passport offered the highest level of security available.

The Voter Registration Application Challenge

Americans are known for being active participants in both local and national elections. However, in the past registering to vote has been a hassle for first-time voters. The challenge then becomes how to create an accessible application that allows US citizens to register to vote.

The Vision Behind the App

The vision behind Register 2 Vote was to build a cross-platform mobile application for iOS and Android allowing users to register for voting in the local and national US elections straight from their mobile device. This simplified registration process would in turn increase voter participation rates. With this in mind, Scopic developed the architecture and UX/UI design to be intuitive and attractive on different mobile devices.

The Scopic Solution

Register 2 Vote is an example of a mobile application that lets users register for voting in minutes. Simply click a photo of your driver’s license for identity confirmation. The application will then generate a QR code that can be used to vote at the closest polling station. Using GPS, the location of the nearest polling station can also be shown in the app.

There is a lot of information out there about wines, but not a lot of people figure out a way to get a hold of that data and get started. Wine wisdom and confidence would take a lot of time, and sometimes an academic experience, to be developed. This is why people are left wondering every time they have to choose a wine. They ask a savvy friend for recommendations or any person around at the liquor store. And because it is a hassle, a lot of people start ordering the same wine, missing out on so many good ones.

The Vision Behind the App

The company sought a way to improve the whole process of getting familiar with wine. In a world where everyone is sharing vast amounts of data every second, it shouldn’t be this hard to know which wine would go best with your dinner plate. They believed the wine knowledge could also be shared and put to good use in our everyday drink decisions. Getting the best wine, for your occasion, at the best price!

So, they reached out to Scopic to work on the technology.

The Scopic Solution

Scopic built Wineglass, a mobile application for iOS. As described on CBS This Morning, L.A. Times, WIRED Insider, TechCrunch, and Daily Mail, WineGlass gives you the know-how of a seasoned wine connoisseur in your pocket.

Simply take a picture of a wine list at a bar or restaurant and WineGlass will scan the image and provide an interactive wine menu on your mobile device. Explore ratings, reviews, price information, and food pairings for each wine. WineGlass allows anyone to be a wine expert.
